Always start any VCT cleaning job by sweeping the floor of all debris. After removing debris a mop the VCT tile with a mop and neutral cleaning chemical with a pH around 7. A higher pH could strip away finish leaving the floor dull and without the desired shine.
For spaces larger than a mop can handle consider a floor machine or automatic scrubber. A floor machine combined with a lite brush or blue pad can be a simple and economical way to clean. The downside to this method is water will need to be recovered with a wet dry vacuum.
An automatic scrubber will combine the scrubbing and water pickup functions in one machine and perform them in one pass. This makes automatic scrubbers the most effective tool to clean medium to large areas of VCT tile.
RECOMMENDED PADS / BRUSHES:
Before starting the stripping process determine the level of buildup on your VCT floors. For standard buildup choose Echelon. Floors with heavy buildup will need Liquidate.
RECOMMENDED STRIPPPING CHEMICAL:
Standard-rotary 175 rpm floor machines are the most popular tool for floor stripping when combined with stripping chemical and a stripping pad. Because this process can be time and labor intensive a Powr² orbital floor machine may be a better fit. An orbital floor machine can bypass the stripping step by removing finish without the need for chemicals when combined with maroon EPP pads.

RECOMMENDED FINISHING CHEMICALS / SUPPLIES:
To bring the high gloss back to a VCT tile and make the finish slip-resistant you typically want a high-speed burnishing machine that can run close to 2,000 RPMs.
