Concrete Floor Maintenance

How to clean concrete
Concrete is flooring has long since been a popular option for garages, warehouses, and other spaces that depend on durability. This flooring can help reduce allergens due to the fact that there is nowhere for dirt to get trapped and it is relatively easy to keep clean.
You will commonly find concrete is categorized as either finished or unfinished. "Unfinished" is natural, raw concrete. This type of concrete flooring is often rough and more porous, because there is no seal applied after being cast. Finishing involves smoothing, compacting, adding any decorative elements such as a stain and applying sealant. Concrete in general is pretty low-maintenance, however unfinished concrete is more prone to staining which demands more agressive cleaning.
A pH-neutral cleaner is best for finished or decorative concrete. Avoid harsh cleaning product such as ammonia or bleach which can react with the concrete and etch the sealed surface. When it begins to dull, buff the surface.
Essentials for concrete cleaning
For single rooms we recommend a small machine with powerful brushes that scrub evenly, but also has the ability to get in crevices of an uneven surface:
The Multiwash is a powerful rotating cylindrical brush unit. The compact size makes this machine highly maneuverable around objects. A standard brush set is included which is ideal for finished surfaces. We also offer blue Hard brushes (Part# PFMWHBD) sold separately for soiled unfinished concrete.
This machine is also available in 18" XL Version which operates at 7,500 sq. ft./ hr.

For anything larger than a single room, we recommend a walk-behind scrubber with a larger recovery tank to save time with a longer, continuous clean. For midsize spaces, we offer:
Recommended scrubbing pads
Available up to 21” in size. If you are not using a pad driver with a riser, we recommend choosing a pad size 1" less than your floor machine. Be sure to purchase a pad driver if one is not included with the machine.
Brushes for concrete cleaning
Go down as much as 2” smaller than your scrubber size. For example, a 20” scrubber can use 20”, 19” and 18” brushes.
