Cleaning Sport Rubber

Sport / Rubber Floors
Rubber floors are commonly found in gyms, courts, and tracks. This is due to this flooring being slip resistant and shock absorbent- perfect for running, weight training and general exercising. Its durability also lends itself to the heavy foot traffic of these environments.
This flooring is tricky due to the friction created between the soft service and fast moving brush. Not only that, some rubber mats are uneven, creating more places for dirt to tuck away into. It takes the right machine, paired with the right brush to scrub away dirt, dust and sweat from sport rubber flooring.

Expert Tip: Always use solution to scrub properly.
Always use solution as you scrub to lubricate rubber flooring. If not done correctly, the rubber flooring creates friction with the brush and will wear down the motor. We recommend something like the Maverick Neutral Floor Solution (Item# MA4).
This is why we recommend our softest brush to tackle this flooring.
Most recommended for scrubbing Sport / Rubber Floor: Powr-Flite Multiwash Scrubbers
Multi-Surface Scrubbers available in 14", XL 18" or kitted with Hard Floor Brushes to make Full Facility Cleaning even easier.
When it comes to rubber flooring, the Multiwash Scrubber outperforms in terms of ease of use.
Equipped with fast-moving, counter-rotating cylindrical brushes, these compact scrubbers manage to kick up dirt and debris without dragging on the rubber. For gym spaces with lots of equipment, a smaller scrubber may be preferred to get around and under machines.
For less drag on soft rubber floors, use Soft Brushes with the Multiwash Scrubber.

Expert Tip: Pay attention to your battery powered machines on rubber flooring.
With added friction, your battery can be easily eaten away. Soft brushes help keep your machine rotating where it needs to and at the proper speed to allow the bristles to dig deep.
Recommended scrubbers for midsize spaces with rubber flooring:
Bigger is not always better! In many cases, a smaller scrubber can actually increase efficiency.
Utilize walk-behind scrubbers for open-gyms and large weight rooms.
For an open area, a larger walk-behind can cover more ground for open-gyms and weight rooms. To avoid the brush stalling or skipping, you may have to adjust the amount of cleaning solution and run an additional dry pass to pick up any excess. Self-Propelled scrubbers can be more easily pushed along rubber without much pull.
Recommended Brush:
Choose a brush 2" smaller than your machine size. When using a riser, a brush the same diameter as your machine can be used.

LIGHT SOIL
Sizes 11"-19"
Channeled and grooved for even solution distribution. Soft bristles flex to allow the brush deck to move without much resistance.
